DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS

SMG, the leader in privately managed public assembly facilities has an excellent and immediate opening for a Director of Operations at The Hershey Centre in Mississauga. This is a supervisory and administrative position at the department head level dealing with all aspects of operations including oversight of event production, building maintenance, ice maintenance, operation of refrigeration plant, engineering, and custodial services.  

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Directs, supervises and schedules all aspects of Operations, including event production,  building maintenance, ice maintenance, operation of refrigeration plant, engineering, and custodial services.
Coordinates with other departments and event related contractors to assure facility readiness and smooth operation of events.
Implements and updates related facility rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
Oversees maintenance of the physical plant, systems, equipment and vehicles.
Authorizes the requisition of equipment and supplies within budget guidelines.
Knows and ensures that all laws, codes, ordinances, policies, procedures, risk management, safety precautions, rules/regulations and emergency procedures are followed.
Negotiates with vendors, contractors and/or service providers.
Develops and implements preventive maintenance schedules, emergency procedures, safety and risk management policies in compliance with all corporate and governmental regulations.
Coordinates and oversees special projects, such as construction, remodeling or expansion. Plans and directs outside vendors/contractors work to assure compliance with contracts and safety requirements.
Serves as MOD (Manager on Duty) as required
Other duties as assigned.


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Bachelor's Degree or certificate from technical college with major in business administration, public administration, engineering or related areas.  Additional experience may be substituted for education
A Class "B" Refrigeration Certificate
4-5 years experience in facilities management including event production, ice maintenance and staff supervision.
Working knowledge of the Building Code, Fire Code and other related codes.
Working knowledge of trades
Good written, verbal and interpersonal skills
Requires ability to work flexible and extended hours, including nights, weekends and holidays, in addition to normal business hours
Demonstrated leadership and performance management abilities.
Excellent organizational, analytical and project management experience.
Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office programs.

Food and Beverage Distribution Manager


SMG, the leader in privately managed public assembly facilities has an excellent and immediate opening for a Food and Beverage Distribution Manager at The Hershey Centre in Mississauga. This is a supervisory, administrative, and hands on operational position reporting to the Food and Beverage Director.  Primary responsibilities include all aspects of inventory management and equipment maintenance.  Functions include ordering, storage, distribution of product to sales locations, equipment maintenance, and supervision of subordinate staff. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Directs, trains, supervises and schedules part time subordinate workers.
Coordinates with other F&B managers, other departments, and senior management to ensure equipment and product readiness for smooth operation of events.
Implements and updates inventory control process and systems.  Physically moves inventory from loading dock, to storage, to individual sales areas.
Oversees maintenance of related equipment, engages and monitors third party repair services as required.
Knows and ensures that all policies, procedures, safety precautions, rules/regulations, food handling procedures, public health code requirements, and emergency procedures are followed.
Other duties as assigned.


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

At least two (2) years of experience in a Food & Beverage environment.
Smart Serve Certified.
Knowledge of draught beer equipment and concession stand equipment would be an asset.
This position requires stooping and lifting.  Substantial standing, walking and pushing and or pulling of equipment and must be able to lift 50 lbs to the waist.
Good written, verbal and interpersonal skills, computer proficiency in Microsoft Office
Requires ability to work flexible and extended hours, including nights, weekends and holidays, in addition to normal business hours
Well organized, results oriented individual with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision and meet required time lines.
